Fuchsias and Roses!

The cards shared today cover two digi challenges. The first is the DU2DS Challenge to use 'Pearls' on your card.

I have used a Fuchsia image from The Sketching Stamper Digi Stamps and I have water coloured the image. Simply matted onto a piece of card with punched edges and riased with 3D foam pads over a background of patterned paper. Embellished with pearls and satin ribbon.

The second card is for the CACB which challenges you to use a technique or card shape that you don't usually use.

I have used a digital image of a bunch of Roses from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop. A while ago I bought a stack of 4 x 8" cards and I very rarely use them as I usually need more space lol, so I thought I would use this sized card for the challenge!! I have once again coloured with Water Colours and mounted onto a background of patterned paper, embellishing with a satin ribbon bow and gems.

Technique Thursday - Fusible Webbing Backgrounds.

I haven't posted a technique like this for a while so I thought I would put that right today. I have covered an interesting background technique using fusible webbing, something that a lot of us have in our sewing boxes!

Start off by cutting a piece of card and a piece of card stock in the colourway that you want to work with and a piece of the fusible webbing a couple of inches larger than the piece of card. Lay the webbing over the card and heat with a heat gun from underneath the card to begin with, so as not to blow the webbing around and then transfer the heat to the top.

Your fusible webbing will begin to shrivel and go into spidery holes as above. If you don't want quite so many holes then hold the heat gun further away from the card stock. Continue heating all over the card stock piece until you have it as you want it. Whilst still hot add embossing powder of your choice and tap off the excess. Once again use your heat gun and heat emboss. It is worth remembering in your first stage of heating that this second stage will put more holes into the webbing.

Your piece will look similar the sample above. Once complete trim your card stock to the size required for your project.

For even more texture you can pop your trimmed piece into an embossing folder and emboss. On the piece above I have popped it into the Heart Blocks Cuttlebug embossing folder. Use your finished piece on your card as desired.

The card sample above is also my card for two challenges. Firstly for the Colour Create challenge to use the colours Red, White/Off White, Chocolate and Pink and the Dottie's World challenge of 'Hearts'!
