Happy New Year - ATC's

I needed a couple of New Year ATC's for the Tanda monthly swap. I also wanted to play with some of the colour wash sprays and the glimmer mists I was lucky enough to get for Christmas. The backgrounds are a mixture of both and they have then been stamped with a crackle stamp and gold embossed. The image is from Joanna Sheen's card Maker's Year CD and I have punched small holes along the top and cut small slits from the holes to make it look like a torn calendar page. This is also my ATC for this weeks Think Monday Think ATC as I adore this rich cranberry colour and the gold flecks going through it look like fireworks.

The second ATC has been made in the same way using a different colour wash spray and an image from one of the Joanna Sheen Christmas CD's - the Victorian I think.

All that is left for me to say is thanks to everyone who visited my blog in 2007 and gave me encouragement and support - HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!! Have a good night!

DCM Year End Dare - Four of the Best

I have managed to stay out of bed for a couple of hours today. Still feel really grotty and haven't got much mojo. I had a quick play with one of the stamps I received for Christmas - the Serendipity cling Pansy Corner stamp, which has been stamped and watercoloured.

This card was made for the Year End Dare from the Daring Card Makers - the dare was to use as many of the four most popular dares on a card as you would like - Buttons, ribbons, Cut and Frames. I managed to use all four - a home made button with ribbon to embellish it, a framed greeting and the pansy corner has been cut around the image.

The background uses a Technique from a Technique Junkies news letter called 'Scrunchie'. A great technique that uses magazine pages. Now I am exhausted and need a rest!

Fancy Dress Pic!

Well - no crafting pics to share today I'm afraid. I didn't manage to stay out of bed very long yesterday to do anything. I managed to get into the Doc's this morning though and am now equipped with Antibiotics for a chest and sinus infection so fingers crossed I shall start to improve.

I have shared a Fancy dress photo with you though as I did promised a week ago to do this! Meet Sister Arguse - equipped with new teeth! My two lads didn't know where to put themselves when they saw me in this lol!!

Shop 'til you drop!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Christmas. I timed it perfectly to be ill and most of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day passed me by! I am trying to drag myself out of bed for short burst today. I saw that the Papertake Weekly Challenge is aptly called 'Shop 'til you drop' just in time for the Sales! This card was made recently for a friend who loves to shop so I have aired it for the challenge too!

I'm off - need another lie down. Enjoy Boxing day everyone!

Daring Card Makers - I'm Free!!

Well this was a dare I thoroughly enjoyed! The Daring Card Makers dare was to use soemthing free from a magazine. I usually save any free papers from craft magazines for my Niece so I pinched a sheet to make this card! I have used the paper as a background piece but first I have scrunched the paper up, flattened it out again, coated the paper in a layer of gesso and then removed some as it was drying. The main image has been stamped and coloured with Copic pens and I have also stamped the image on the untreated patterned paper and cut out a few of the flowers to stick over the original image. Layered and mounted 3D with brads and decorative chord to embellish.

Thanks for the wonderful challenges during the year ladies - Merry Christmas to everyone and look forward to more challenges next year!

A Watercolour Card

I recently did a class about using watercolours in your card making. Today I am getting away from Christmas images and sharing this card made to one of the class layouts. I have always loved using water colours but have not paid much attention to light sources etc. I need more practice and I do find water colouring very relaxing. The class provided a number of layouts to make your finished work into cards and this is made using one of them. Background paper is DCWV, the stamped image is Tin Can Mail and the colouring medium was Lyra watercolour wax crayons.

Snowflakes and Snowmen ATC Swaps

Phew - what a busy day that was!! I went to do my last bit of Christmas shopping in Leicester today and I think everyone else decided to as well! I have never seen so many people!

I wasn't going to post today and then I thought I would share my ATC's for a swap on the Tanda Forum to the theme of Snowflakes and Snowmen.

The background has been coloured with inks and I have then stamped a Christmas text stamp over the top, images are from the Joanna Sheen Victorian Christmas CD.

Right I have one more job to do and then I am off to bed, I'm shattered!

Daring Card makers - Inside Out!

The Daring Card Makers challenge this week was for cards that involve decoration on the inside as well as the outside. I share this card, not made today, but one that I get asked for quite often and one that I make in a variety of themes. A piece of A4 card folded zig zag style and decorated on all four panels. This was a project using Rubbadubbadoo stamps and a tag theme. The decorative papers are DCWV and each tag is tied with a length of lemon satin ribbon.

Apologies for the 'here is one I made earlier' but this week and next are going to be manic for me!

Snowman Blues!

The card I am sharing today is another customer Christmas order. I was asked for a Christmas card in the recipients favourite football team colours. The background paper started out as one of the Artylicious Season's Greetings background papers and I have airbrushed the edges so that it is a closer match to the blue I have used on the Snowmen, stamped in the centre with an unmounted text stamp and finally I stamped the free snowflake stamp from Craft Stamper around the edges and embossed in silver sparkle embossing powder. The image is a Cuddly Buddly Christmas stamp from Rubbadubbadoo and the only embellishment is silver organza ribbon.

Ta very much for looking!

A Holly Fairy

This card was made for a customer and I was reasonably pleased with it when I finished it! A combination of Artylicious Season's Greetings CD for the backing paper and the Joanna Sheen Holly Fairy. Joanna released a fabulous range of Christmas Fairy stamps this year and they are all gorgeous. If you pop over and have a look in her specials section you will find the Pine Cone Fairy for a mere £3.99 - great savings! I will be showing you a card made using her later!

Another Name Frame Birthday Card

I received another request for a name frame Birthday card last week - the customer wanted a reference to the lady's Nursing profession so the good old Sizzix Doll came in handy. I have not used one of those on a card for an age! Letters are cut on the Cricut , several layers stuck together to make then chunky. It was a pleasant respite from Christmas images!

Merry Xmas Sexy!

I have seen many cards similar to this as I have been blog hopping and after getting some rhinestone buckles from the Joanna Sheen 'Specials' section thought I would put one of them to good use and have a go myself! The shapes have been hand cut and are a good five inches high. The top of the bodice has been trimmed with white lace, the rhinestone buckle added to the waist and a pearl necklace has been made using the sticky backed pearls also available from the JS shop. I have used a darker red chalk to put a shadow to accentuate voluptuousness! The scan was not easy to do and has some shadows but I think you can get the gist!

I am editing this post as this card fits perfectly with the Arty Girlz challenge - hand cutting! Hope that is OK - really busy week for me!

Another Double Whammy

Alpha Challenge - W for Wolf

We are getting near the end of Isa's Alpha challenges now - I posted the letter 'X' earlier in the week and this is my W for Wolf card.

To make this I have used Ecoline ink and bleach. The only colour I have put back into the wolf was the blue of his eyes. Embellished with a strip of silver brads.

A couple of ATC's

I am sharing a couple of ATC's today - the first one was made for the Think Monday Think ATC challenge theme this week - 'Alice in Wonderland'. A background of inks, small unmounrted daimond stamp and a Tanda Stamp hearts stamp.

Secondly a resist technique used on this ATC - made for the Wednesday Stamper challenge 'Words'. I used the word Dream - all stamps are Rubbadubbadoo.

Sometimes ATC's are a quicker way of tackling the challenges when time presses!

This is another card from my Alcohol ink class, this time using the Swoosh technique! I am sharing this as my card for the Theme Thursday Challenge to make a Winter/Snow card in non traditional colours. Stamp is from Rubber Stampede, greeting is Tanda Stamps and I have used the Snowflake Cuttlebug folder. Alcohol inks are Ranger and I used Red Pepper, Wild Plum and Cranberry along with a Marvy Metallic Pink pen. Embellished with ribbon and pink star shaped gems.

A Three in One - Polished Stone Xmas Card

This card is a three in one challenge card. Firstly 'We Three Kings' - Papertake Weekly Challenge, to use three of the same images on a card. Secondly 'Squares' - Arty Girlz challenge and one of this week's Alpha Challenges 'X is for Xmas Tree'.

I have recently singed up for an on-line Alcohol ink class as I don't have much knowledge or confidence with these and they just sit in my craft box gathering dust. The polished stone technique was used for the background piece on this card - my first piece from of class work!

Background paper is DCWV, Xmas tree stamp is Joanna Sheen and the greeting stamp is Tanda Stamps. Image is coloured with pens and embellished with ribbon and chord.

Two in One - Chocolate and Umbrella

As time is pressing at the moment this is a two in one challenge card. My letter 'U' Alpha Challenge - U is for Umbrella and my Gothic Arch - Chocolate themed card. I treated the latter as a colour challenge and used this fab Tuscan Rose baby image for the first.

I needed to play catch up!

Daring Card Makers - Tweet Tweet!

The Daring Card Maker challenge this week is all about our feathered friends. I don't have many stamps with birds on but I did remember this stamp of a Hummingbird. The background is made up of inks, webbing spray and embossing powder and the main image is coloured with Copic Markers. Very simply embellished with tabs and brads.

This challenge was good therapy for me and so nice to get away from Christmas images!
